Murray cod, eyes bigger than stomach

Hi all
I have not seen my catfish for a few days, and now I have. He is half way down my cods mouth. Still breathing. I cant say for sure how long he has been in there, but is there a way to save him, or more importantly, how to save Murray?

As its been taken tail first it shouldnt be too hard to pull out. Just watch the barbels on the catfish. Id just stick my thumb in the catfishs mount and grab his bottom jaw.
Catfish are pretty hardy -

I started prodding around in there with a taped up coat hanger, and he spat it. Thank christ. He is now in sick bay.

Mr Catfish is not doing so well. He is a guppies breeding box on the surface. His back half is badly scratched, but he is having a rest and looks a bit better now. By that I mean he is not on his side anymore. How would I go about treating these wounds? I was thinking salt.....

Sadly, Mr Catfish didn't make it. He was breathing very slow by morning and on his side. I wrapped him up in a damp tissue and put him in the freezer. I couldnt allow him to suffer anymore. That takes Murray's total to $160.

Mate we've transported eel tail catfish in wet hessian bags for 2 hours and they have lived quite happily. Tough mongrels

For future reference, freezing is not a humane method of euthanasia. It forms ice shards and crystals in the fishes inside which is very painful.

What were you doing keeping these two species together? That poor catty, disgraceful, these native fish need respect, the larger fish will always eat anything it can swallow, come on ~X(
