i was just wondering any good plants people suggest that are hardy. I have thrown a few now and some are growing well and some just appear to be getting translucent and die. I have java moss which grows well. What plants do people have and if you have pictures would most appreciate it

if you are after bullet proof then its java fern you are after. Grows free floating, in the gravel or attached to wood/rocks. needs little light and it tough enough to resist minor attacks from fish.
most plants you get from aquarium stores are quite hardy. Things like blue stricta and whistera grow like weeds given even moderate light and decent gravel. I have seen Val grow at over 5cms a day in the right conditions. -
+1 for java fern. I bought some from my LFS glued them to rocks and they are living just fine. Don't get much light and I don't feed them, as well as my cichlids constantly ripping pieces off them.
Read up on them though because they are not meant to be planted, they are meant to be attached to something. -
I think that anubias is another hardy plant which can be planted in gravel, sand and also on driftwood or rocks.

Not in gravel Luigi..on rocks, yeah... but really loves being on wood..

Don't think so..Java ferns, & hygrophila are the most hardy I find..

Hi I have found that Ludwigia 'narrow leaf' grows like a weed in my tank as well as the crested Java fern with moderate lighting and the fish don't eat it. The Ludwigia grows about 1 cm a week minimum, I have to keep trimming it down and it shoots extremely fast again.
