Pregnant or fat?

Hi guys,
this probably doesn't need to go into the emergency room but still. I have a pair of giant danios, when I got them they where small and usual sizes but then it got colder and now the girl (I think) is fat, she also has a small black dot down the rear end of her body. I have moved her and the other one into a private tank. Is this normal?

Hi James and welcome. If it is a female she could be egg bound or could also be constipated. Just keep an eye on it and don't feed for a couple of days and see how things go
don't forget to keep us updated.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams. -
Ok, I will check whether she has pooped recently :> and if not I am going to be putting this one on a diet. Thanks for the welcome as well!

bit big... but still :P

I'll tell you she used to be A LOT smaller

Tumbler? You don't need a tumbler for Danio eggs, they are egg scatterers.
You need to research the breeding habits of the fish you keep...
You're either over feeding or it's constipated or bloated or eggbound, It could explode by the looks of her
:-&
I would withhold food for a week or moresee if that helps .. :-SS

she spends most of her time either chasing the male or lying near the bottom of the tank :-SS
-
Looks like a Rainbow

Fish can get anal protrusions, called an anal prolapse, That could be the next thing you see :-S sadly she has little future, If that happens ..

She has got a few red spots on her stomach and she is breathing heavily and lying on her side, she was really weak and got pulled in by the force of the filter so I moved her into a different tank, thanks for the help guys but I think that's the end

Red spots are often an indicator of internal bleeding caused by bacterial infections so not good. You will need to make sure that your maintenance regime (check parameters such as pH, hardness and ammonia, nitrIte & nitrAte) and the water conditions you are providing for your fish are suitable. The closer your fish are to natural conditions the less stress they will be under which will assist their immune system to fight off bacteria.

Unfortunately, it's a bit to late
( she died a few hours ago. Thanks guys for the help I am not sure that I could have helped as I rushed to the pet store and asked the person then my sister called (who is staying with me) me to say she had died :-S but on the bright side I got a heater for my tank so I can get some more tropical fish as the heaters where on a one day sale
