Hi all, I am searching for real plants that a suitable in cold water aquariums? In one of my discussions I liked to what fake plants were good quality. I currently have an anubias on driftwood. I'm getting growth, but after a while the leaves sag. So I am thinking of combing fake and real plants together.

This is also something i am interested in as I am moving to cold water too.
Luigi, some of the plants I am looking at is Vallisneria which is a tall growing grass like plant. Others include Potamogeton, Nardoo and Pennywort are some i have looked at as they have native species (going for a native tank)
I'm sure i have missed heaps and im sure people will fill in the gaps -
Here is a couple more.
Variegated Lime Rush, (Acorus variegatus) good background plant.
Dwarf Green Rush, (Eleocharis Parvulus) good mid ground plant.
These I had these in my Rainbow tank, they will grow in cold water as well..">
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams. -
I found the following Hemigraphis exotica (purple temple) and Nomaphila "blue stricta"

Just a note of caution regarding some plants which are often sold as "aquatic plants" but which are not.
See here for some of the more usual culprits,

Has any tried banana lily in their coldwater tanks?

Not in cold water I haven't, here's the temperature they prefer between 20-28C, someone out there may have them growing successfully in a cold water tank. Get yourself few and give it a go, then let the rest of us know how you get on.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

I have 5 banana lilies in a coldwater tank. They seem to be doing well. I have added a heater to my coldwater aquarium. Temperature is at 19 degrees.

Luigi, thanks for feedback and it's good they are doing well in your cool water tank, it might just help someone out with a cool water tank that likes Banana Lilies
