Anyone know what specific species the livefish freshwater crab ( http://livefish.com.au/fresh-water-crab.html ) is?
If so, what are the care requirements like tank size, tank mates, ph, hardness, size, temperament etc etc?

Not sure on the species, but I'd assume similar conditions to any other aquatic arthropods - pH 7-7+ and relatively hard water with carbonates for shell building.

So, noone knows? Should I mail them?

Mail them if you like they may know.
Did you check out the link Mooo posted, it's a very good read on how to keep them.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams. -
Surely TT cant you just google them? i did a while ago, plenty of info, imho, they dont make very good pets, :-j

I would but I don't know what species! Waiting on email now....
Did you get the ones off livefish? What were your experiences with them? -
afternoon tall tree..... I think there called a freshwater brown back crab......
hope that helps...... as for getting them from live fish.... they haven't been
in stock for years....ive my eye on them too....!!!!!! Coburg aquarium have
a small info sheet on them too..... -
Go the yahoo site, theyve got all the species,m8.As for my experience with em,lots of room, water - fussy as,messy eaters, territorial, smaller species could be great in a nano...........praps :-@

Hmmm, the brown back from coburg looks promising. What's the tank size for these? Around the 3-5ish gallons range?
How'd ya mean fussy? Like fussy eaters? Lots of room for water meaning that they take up a lot of room and don't do much?Frayk said:Go the yahoo site, theyve got all the species,m8.As for my experience with em,lots of room, water - fussy as,messy eaters, territorial, smaller species could be great in a nano...........praps :-@

after noon tall tree...... ive never kept them but im assuming you might
need some sort of area in the tank that's above the water level.... sort of
like you would do with a frog tank..... apart from that I don't know....
although id suggest 3 foot minimum ..... gives them a bit of room....... -
I've since been emailed by allina and she has confirmed they are the brown back freshwater crabs.
Thanks for all comments guys. -
Sorry TT bit vague last post,ya get that.Ive never kept em but a m8 had some, and apparently kh has to be spot on,brackish water, wasteful eaters, territorial and escape artists.Give em a go,dont want to be a killjoy, cheers :-bd

Mmm sound pretty tough, when I *eventually* get that nano invert tank I'll stick with native shrimps from aquagreen.

Hey m8, didnt mean to kill it for you, prove my m8 wrong, what doesnt work for some can sometime work for others
) Cheers.
