Can I have some advice please

I bought a sword plant about 6 months ago and attached it to a piece of driftwood, it was growing up towards the light when I first got it, but now it's gone a bit flat, (wilted) It is still very green and healthy, and it's growing like mad, it's gotten so big you can't see the driftwood anymore. So I was wondering if maybe it's getting too much light, or maybe, it's suppose to grow like that, it gets about 10 hrs of light everyday. Any advice would be appreciated as I have never owned a plant like this before so I'm not sure if I need to do anything or maybe I'm just worried about nothing. Thanks

I'd say it probably needs planting.

Ok errol, didn't really want to use any substrate, as I'm trying to breed Discus, but I will if I have to, it's something I didn't think of though. I could try planting it in a very large pot.
I'll wait and see what other people think before I try it though. Thanks :-?

I was going to suggest potting it. It is a plant that does best in a substrate so large pot will still make cleaning easier

Really needs to be planed, it gets a rather large root system, sometime larger than the plant itself
I wonder if a flat bonsai pot would work :-? -
What a great idea, a bonsai pot
would work a treat, good on ya Mooo.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams. -

Wow moo what a great idea, you are a clever girl
and it would actually look really nice. So have we all voted for a bonsai pot then, cause that's what I'm gonna do. Thank you all so much, you are amazing, come here and I'll give you all a big group hug >:D<

Sorry all,
In my experience (and that of others) the rootball and lower plant material is quite extensive. I don't think you are going to get it into the (usually) flat bonsai dishes that I normally see at garden retailers.

Of course it would need to be one of the bigger ones Bob, about 4 inches high on the sides & at least 10 inches in diameter, You could still go bare bottom tank then
with just gravel in the pot for the sword, It's worth a shot, otherwise, sell the plant or use substrate

Sorry, moo I love my plant, it would break my heart to sell it :-S So, I've spent half a day looking for Bonsai pots, but they're all too small. I did however, find a terracotta trough, which fits nicely, in the middle of my tank, it's big enough for my sword and some thin vals, which I bought from livefish.
Not sure how it's going to look, but at least my plant will be happy.
So thanks for all your help. Oh I almost forgot, do you think I should, cut out some of the light, or is 10 hrs, ok?

Hey Nemo good find on the planter, you could always put some wood or a few rocks in front of the pot to hide it a bit . :-? As for the lighting unless you're having problems with Algae, 10hrs of light a day is good.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

I would try to diguise the pot also, a few bits of drift wood or some kind of rocks ... Ditto...10 hours light is ok
