Hi Can anyone tell me how to get started with an outdoor pond in my back yard in Sydney. I want to have small native fish like Pacific Blue Eyes not gold fish.
Any advice would be most welcome especially on being able to buy fish that will survive here.
thanks

Hi & Welcome
Mine started like this, I made a filter from an 80L drum, and it's been going now for oh 4 years maybe more, just set up any filter like you do witha tank, similar to a canister because in the end, that's all it is, but a big one
what fish, cold water ones
google aussie rainbows ie natives or maybe goldfish
How it looks now -
Yep, Pacific blue eyes would be a good choice where you are.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

Hi
Im in Bondi and your pond looks awesome. I have a pond filter already and a couple of plants but don't know how or where to buy fish as I don't want gold fish. Any help would be most welcome. Thanks for your reply. -
If you get a big enough pond you could get a breeding family of cichlids going. Throw some pellets on it and they'll all go nuts.

You can make ponds out of old tires and bins
