Oops! Don't know how the word "ate" got in there
-
Wild caught? Not good ever to remove anything from the wild, your messing with local biodiversity, species recruitment, long term ecological sustainability of the species, etc....etc....
-
I grow them for a little while then release them
-
Got a new fish yesterday. Don't know what species but I caught him from the local creek.(was going to release him straight away but his head got caught in the net and it rubbed away his scales
around his head so I am healing him back up). -
You will learn, talking from the wild (unless for conservation attempts) is frowned upon by most aquarists
Leave the wild out there
There's a balance we shouldn't upset
taking away one thing can do lasting harm
-
I agree, why take animals from the wild when you can cause less harm and get a more adaptable specimen captive bred?
-
None of the fish have ever died in my care and I am trying to breed them to release into the wild.
-
By doing that you put wild animals at risk of diseases that aquarium fish resist or are immune too which could decimate wild populations who have never been exposed.
-
Ok forget about that and back to the meaning of this forum what pets do you have?
-
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.
-
I was surprised you didn't have any fish (I mean this is a fish forum) how long ago did you have the cat, husky and carpet Python?
-
Heintz DID have fish once .. & he is a valued member of this forum
-
LMAO, how about you start a thread of the fish you have and a few pics?animal_expert01 said:I was surprised you didn't have any fish (I mean this is a fish forum)
The snake went with my son when he moved out and is still alive. Not a Husky he was a Malamute. As for the cat my mum fell in love him and is still kicking.
Edit: and put up some pics of your other pets.

Sorry to here about your bearded dragon rainbow alasse how many tanks are your fish spread across
-
Rainbow is the psychotic bristle nose the one that's turned carnivorous
-
I find it hard to believe a bristlenose could be carnivorous. There's too much protein and fat in meaty foods for bristlenose. My bristlenose won't touch a fish unless it's already dead and is rotting.
Are you sure it's a bristlenose?
Anyway, my current stock includes
Rummynose and flame tetras,
Blue ram
Kuhli loaches
Otocinclus
Male beta
Shrimps
Axolotls
African Butterfly
Keyhole cichlids
Upside down catfish
Bristlenose
Along with some various dogs and cats that make themselves comfortable in my house. -
can you post pictures
-
I keep a journal of my fish here:
http://forum.livefish.com.au/discussion/8222/my-shrimp-betta-tank#latest
Plenty of pictures, all potato quality of course. -
I'm not 100% sure about the Bristlenose (Robert) but I have had him for several years in which he managed to kill one of the female bristlenose as well as a male peppermint (entirely my fault) and has since then been confined to an 80L where no other bottom dwellers go (for their safety
). Since then several introductions of guppies have failed as they rapidly disappear overnight and the only other fish able to survive in there is a random carp gudgeon.

Ok update both neon tetras have sadly passed away as well as one of the long armed freshwater crayfish. Also I have two new fish that I don't know the species of.
-
Whack up a few photos of the mystery species, someone is bound to know what they are.
-
I don't know how to but I will change my profile picture to a picture of one
-
Pretty sure that's a striped gudgeon (Gobiomorphus australis)
-
Depending on where you live, I reckons ol m8 Rainbows is spot on, do some research, good luck.
-
Just did some research and they are striped gundgeons thanks rainbow and frayk
-
Are the territorial?
-
I would think so as most gudgeons are to some degree but I doubt they will seriously harm each other.
-
Where did you get them from - the Striped gudgies that is?
-
From the wild there the same fish that I thought were breeding (but never ended up breeding) you have commented on it Frayk. Why?
-
Ok my tank is basically ruined several of my fish have died ( check out Tank Catastrophe for the full story ) sadly my long armed freshwater crayfish and my two huge silver sharks have sadly died. But thankfully the rest of my fish are ok.
