I have this little tiny creek across the road from my house (I wouldn't even call it a creek) and the other day I chucked I yabby trap in there expect to pull out small fish and yabbies but I pulled out a 2 meter eel! I don't know how this creek coud sustain such a predator ( I know they can travel across water) but there are no water ways near my house? I don't know what it was feeding off I only thing I have ever caught in there apart from the eel are fish, yabbies, redclaws and long armed freshwater crayfish?

Eels and catfish and the like thrive on yabbies. If you have any pictures I'd love to see them.

I scared the crap out of me so I chucked it back (it wAs only in my for like 20 seconds).

oooh! I used to have a spiny eel it was an escape artist
surprised the eel didn't escape?

Will the eel was WAY bigger in then the trap so I don't even know how it got in. It wouldn't have been able to escape as its gill was caught on the mesh (it left a pretty decent sized wound).
