Well I have just came back from a holiday with my aunties and cousins to my mum telling me that last night at 2 o'clock she woke up to the sound of my filter burning out and then she filled up with water to try and stop the pump from burning out. And now I just came back from my holiday to an indescribable tank. It stank, There was dirt everywhere and several of the fish were dead. I have now entirely cleaned out the tank and the remaining fish u have put in a spare tank and the plants in a bucket I really do hope they survive I am getting a new pump in a week and advice ? Also if you were wondering the fish that died were my two silver sharks and my long armed freshwater crayfish. I AM SO SAD!!!

I'm sorry man, best thing you can do right now is try to find a suitable place for your remaining fish to live until you get a new tank stable and running. A tank without a filter will not be able to support life for very long unless its very large with very few fish or you are doing large daily waterchanges. Best of luck hope it all works out for you.

Thanks tall tree I have a spare filter which I have put on the spare tank to try and keep the fish alive ( but the spare filter is far to small to put in my big actual tank which is now empty and reeks of dead fish).

Ok just went and check on the fish both striped gudgeons were on the floor but luckily they are still alive I really need a make shift lid that still lets air threw because my spare tank has no lid please help this is very urgent.

For a very temporary lid you could put a towel over the tank, it will stop fish jumping out and will still allow some air to move in and out.
