new tank filter/lights

Hi everyone i have just brought a new tank. 5ft long 2ft wide and 2.5ft tall. I would like to have a freshwater planted with fish tank.
Can anyone give me any ideas what to run ? For the pump i was thinking about Fluvel F6 what do you think ? Lighting maybe LED ?

    Welcome steve001, your tank is 250 lts right? Id get the best canister filter you can afford, a top brand say 350 to 400 hundred litres per hour, LED lighting for sure, t5/t8 flouros are old news, good luck and let us know how things go. Cheers.

    Hi Steve, nice size tank around 614ltrs, filter wise the Fx6 is a good choice, now regarding the lighting is a bit harder since the height is 2.5ft, what type of plants are you wanting to grow, all the information you can give plant wise will help with lighting recommendations.

    Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

    Thanks every one .well i think i will get the FX6 now and think i will have look into the lights a bit more, im not shure which plants to grow, i think i would like the tank to be lite up so you can see the fish . Some thing else i was thinking about was the back drop on the tank, should i paint it black, or blue . Maybe a seanery print ??

    I prefer black backing (blackboard paint) as it makes the plants & fish pop ;)

    Short answer NO!

    Long answer still NO! lol. Just give it a good clean first, window cleaner on a old tea towel or metho not (meth) hahaha, will do.
