Does anyone know if the terracotta pots sold in Bunnings can be used in an aquarium for display?

Yep sure can, I used them in my Bristlenose tanks with no ill effects, just give them a good scrub first.

Cool!! Thanks, Heintz - I did buy a river stone paver (non-concrete), then took a hammer to it making smaller pieces and modified it's shape. Also used the hammer to take the sharp edges off it. Got a few more plants and wood at my local LFS. Four more weeks and my tank will have finished it's 'cycling' - currently at it's nitrates peak.
Can't wait to get more swimmers in it! -
Sounds like a cool project, pop up some pics when you get a chance? and yes cycling a new tank is always a pain in the bum Lol, but also gives you a chance to get the tank just right before you add it's inhabitants.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Yes they are fine but just plug up the hole in the end, I have heard to many horror stories about small fish like mollies, platies and corys getting stuck in hem and dying.

Thanks guys for your advice. Maybe I'll carefully punch out the hole bigger? My other thought was to try break in half using a centre punch and having two . . . Will think about this more but the pot idea I like.
Mind you, a pot won't match my desired theme . . . New thread time -
An angle grinder, dermal or even a hack saw will do the job on the pots easier when the pots are wet, that way there's no dust.Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.
