Fish tank horror story!

As many of you know from another discussion my rainbow shark was fatally wounded by one of his tank mates. But since that has happened two more fish have died from the unknown fish who is attacking my other fish since my rainbow shark passed away from a large wound on his gill. Two more rummy-nose tetras have died, one of old age but the other got an enormous wound on its side and one of my zebra danios also got an enormous wound on his gills which he sadly passed away from yestreday☹️, also several neon tetras have also disappeared. Please help! I want to know which fish is behind the attacks so I can get rid of it so I the rest of my fish can live peacefully. I suspected the fish behind the attack is either my largest female sword tail or my largest Siamese algae water because both of there jaws similarly match the bite marks on the other fish. Also I have seen my Siamese algae water feeding of the dead fish ( I know that doesn't mean anything but still ) and he is the second biggest fish in my tank meaning he ( and the swordtail ) are the only fish big enough to take on my rainbow shark. I suspect my female swordtail as her mouth size also matches the bite marks, and she is wild caught meaning it would be in her natrual instinct to kill other fish. Please help I love my fish very much and I don't want anymore to die slow horrible deaths from the injures, thanks in advance.

I also just realised one of my leopard danios with swimming problems ( it had a bent back ) and my smallest swordtail has also disappeared. All these disappearances have happened in the area of about four months.

Sounds like the sucker fish could be the issue or a virus or bacteria making the sores
Hard to advise , but it doesn't sound like you will have a happy ending with this story

Ok thanks. I have also considered it may be my heater because when I touch it it is extremely hot and hurts my hand so when when the fish swim into it it my be giving them the wounds. Would there be anything I could wrap around the heater to stop me getting burnt and the fish if it is the heater them getting burnt?

You can buy actual heater covers for heaters, Aqua 1sell a good cheap cover, I have these covers on all my heaters. Cheers.

Ok thanks!

Heater burn could be it
Buy a heater guard and if it still happens, get rid of that sucker

Ok thanks!

None of my fish have gotten it in a while so I think the problem is fixed. BUT there is another BIG problem several of my neons have large white ball like growths coming out of there and greatly deformed mouths as if somebody has grabbed them and twisted them. I am planning on adding some eSHa 2000 (if I can get a hold of it) which will also help one of my neons with some small wounds on his side and a missing eye (purchased him like that today) I just totally stripped down my Aquariam so know I will be able to clean it a lot eaier and therefore my water will be much better quality so hopefully I will be getting less annoying diseases in my tank. Anybody have any idea what it is or how to fix it or how to prevent it in the future please tell m. Thanks in advance!

What size and type of filter are you running m8?
-
Do you have a quarantine tank? If not, I suggest you get one and put all shop bought additions in it for a month or two & any showing illness
Sounds like cotton mouth to me or just a common mouth and skin fungus, water quality should be checked

What Mooo said, + do you have lots of bubbles? Aeration is essential, imo, helps with gas exchange ie the Oxygen/ Carbon Dioxide exchange {Google it!], activates your heater thermostat, creates water movement which benefits aerobic bacteria, less fungal diseases...cheers m8

I have an enormous have duty filter built into the tank that I say would do the whole tank every 20 minutes or so. The water that comes out of the filter drops from about a 3cm height I have been told that that is produces enough oxygen. I also have several live plants that help is this adequate I do have an air pump should I be using it in the tank?

hi, neons, as far as i know really love very good water conditions. they tend to be impacted first by fluctuations. the issues you have had may now be filtering down to them.
there are products that will remove the fungus/heal the fin rot. you LFS will have something.
the issue is unlikely to be a oxygen problem, more a ph, ammonia, high nitrate or something like that I think.
when did you check you water parameteers last. might be worth to see what your tank is doing.

Id use the air pump, just my opinion mind you.

BTW, I was'nt suggesting that aeration was THE problem.

seems like enough oxygen but at Frayk says - cant hurt to have more in the short term.animal_expert01 said:I have an enormous have duty filter built into the tank that I say would do the whole tank every 20 minutes or so.
