Suspected Fungal Infection and one poor option for quarantine

I just received an online order from a store that I'd never purchased from before as they had an angel fish I couldn't source locally or from other online stores I usually buy from. I'm currently floating the bag in my tank (after rinsing the outside first) and I've noticed that the fish seems to have a fungal infection on all of it's fins. I don't want to release it into the tank with my disease free fish but the only other option I have is a 38L tank 2 weeks into it's cycle that has no filter (it stopped working a week ago and I'm waiting on a replacement that was meant to be here by today but hasn't arrived). My only option is the cycling tank but I don't want to jeopardise the new angel's health anymore than it is. Any ideas on what I should do? Thanks

Thats a tough one, imho, i would put the Angel in the 38lt tank. As long as its heated, with really good aeration the filter wont matter, bang in some fungus cure, its an option. Or release it into its intended tank, do a 50% water change, increase temp by a coupla degrees, increase aeration, and add some fungus rid, good luck.

Pimafix or melafix are the best.

Thanks Frayk, I've got Melafix and Pimafix on hand, I put it in the 38L with the new fish and have been agitating the water every hour till I find my spare pump and air stone, hopefully the new filter arrives tomorrow! Thanks again!

He's doing a lot better now, all his fins have cleared up and he's eating well, I bought a cheap temporary filter the day after my last post as the new one's only just arrived in Australia today, probably another week before I get it! I think he's ready to go in with the others now, I felt horrible floating the bag in the tank with the others and before he could meet them properly I took him away and put him in solitary!

thats funny, but you did the right thing. Praps when you put him/her into the big tank do a 40/ 50% water change after a few days, keep a an eye on the fungus, and bang in some mela or pima. Good luck, keep us informed.
