It’s been a while since I posted and I see I am an “Ancient Member” so I figure a Post is in order. This is my current home 2 1/2 foot tank.

Glad you like it. It has 2 mature Clown Loaches, 3 Siamese cat fish (or similar), 2 neons left, 3 glowlights, 3 black neons & 6 new Neon Rainbows plus 1 random creek fish (tetra like) my son has had for ages -
If you post a picture of the random Creek fish I might be able to identify it if you like.

Looks to me to be a female Murray Rainbow (melanotaenia fluviatilis) judging by the almost complete absence of colour but a location would confirm the id.

Actually on second thought (and taking into account you're from the nt?), it's likely either a Melanotaenia splendida tatei or Melanotaenia splendida inornata female depending on where it was collected. The head shape is wrong for a murray.

Coming from the N.T. it could be one of any of the many 1000s of Rainbows, it looks like a juvenile so even harder to i.d. What river, location, area etc could possibly narrow it down to an exact i.d.When it matures and gets some colour will help. Good luck
