What fish is this?

Hey guys, total noob question, I know, but I inherited this fish with a tank I just picked up & have no idea what it is! Excuse the poor photo quality & terrible water - just filled the tank a few hrs ago & it hasn’t settled yet.... He never stays still except briefly in this corner here!
If it helps, he’s about 14cm long & has lived in a 240L freshwater tank with a Clown Loach & Bristlenose for years...
Also he’s got quite a kink... How does this happen/is there any way to fix it?

TIA for any help!
Ethan

    Hi Ethand,

I can't seem to enlarge your photos, I don't know if I'm the only one. Twisted spines usually come from mishandling or inbreeding.
Sometimes when I reflect back on all the beer I drink I feel ashamed. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the brewery and all of their hopes & dreams.

    Hi Ethan,

Pics are okay and was able to enlarge on iPad. Could be a “tear drop” barb and at 14cm quite a good size.

As Heintz says you usually see twisted spines as either a result of injury or genetics. Not likely to be fixable, doesn’t look to bad on the pics posted.

    Cheers,

    Bob

Sorry @Heintz.G - let me try again.... can’t seem to insert these pics in the text line, so not sure if there’s any other way to do it...

Thanks Bob, some kind of barb was my suspicion also... I believe he’s around 7yrs old, so quite a good age!

Sorry for the late reply, yep it looks like a barb could be an oversized butterfly barb, Lol.

Most likely like Bob said a tear drop.
